Lobster tastes great in fancy restaurants, sea shacks, and bars,
But especially in New England, where they don't pronounce their "R's".
But what part of the lobster should you plan to eat?
Well, of course the tail, with the most amount of meat.
Twist each claw off with all your might,
And crack open the shell with pure delight.
Then use a small fork to extract the sweet, silky meat,
You’ve now truly earned your succulent treat.
The legs, the knuckles, and of course the ribs,
Lobster can be a messy affair, so don’t forget your bibs.
It goes great with butter, lemon, and corn,
It even tastes great first thing in the morn’.
Whether you eat it in an omelet, in pasta, hot or cold,
Lobster's a tasty meal that never ever gets old.
Just for fun, I hope you’ll humor me,
As I list all the ways to eat this creature from the sea.
Poached, steamed, grilled, fried, or with soup in a bowl,
Baked with mac ‘n’ cheese or served on a classic potato roll.
Risotto, Benedict, or just plain roe,
Poutine, BLT, and of course fra diavolo.
So many ways to enjoy these tasty critters,
Use them with that corn to make sweet fritters.
Some lobsters have shells that are soft, others hard as a rock,
But all can be turned into a delicious seafood stock.
So take it from me, the man who rhymes,
And who has been fortunate to eat lobster hundreds if not thousands of times.
Those memories of hot New England days that are crystal clear,
With an overstuffed lobster roll and a cold glass of beer.
I can picture it now, the salty air on my skin,
And the warmth of the drawn butter slowly dripping down my chin.
Now close your eyes and imagine a place,
Where a lobster on your plate puts a smile on your face.
Summer's here, and the sun will shine,
Lobster…so good, it sends chills down my spine.
