Wild Alaska halibut is a great fish to use for tasty fish cakes that kids will love! Make this easy sugar free ketchup as a dipping sauce.

Alaska Halibut Fish Cakes

Ingredients
    Sugar free ketchup
  • 1 cup strained tomatoes
  • 2 teaspoons tomato paste
  • 1 small onion
  • 2 tablespoons date or maple syrup
  • 14 teaspoon curry powder
  • 34 cup water
  • 12 teaspoon salt
  • For the fish cakes
  • 10 ounces Alaska halibut fillets
  • 1 onion
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 1 tablespoon flour
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • Oil for frying

Instructions
    Make the ketchup

  • Peel and dice the onion.

  • Put all ingredients in a small pot and simmer for about 10-15 minutes on medium heat.

  • Finely puree everything and pour into a clean jar with a lid and store in the refrigerator.
  • Make the fish cakes

  • Peel the onion and cut it in half. Put all the ingredients in a blender and pulse to finely chop. Form patties from the mixture.

  • In a non-stick frying pan, heat the oil and fry the fish cakes on medium heat until golden brown on both sides.

  • Serve the halibut cakes with ketchup.

Notes

Serve with roasted veggies cut into strips for a full meal.
